Sail through the winter? Help shape SailGauge.
We're looking for a small number of sailors to put a preproduction SailGauge SG1000 to work on their own boats this winter — especially in southern and warm-weather waters where the season keeps going.
Preproduction system on loan at no charge. 25% off a production system when you complete the program.
Why we're testing
Purpose of the beta test.
SailGauge hardware development and testing is complete. The software is in on-water field testing, and the beta program adds sailing time across more boats and conditions.
This beta program focuses on how the SG1000 (1,000 lb version) performs in everyday sailing: its ease of use, the usefulness of the information it provides, and the overall experience. Your feedback will help us refine the system before production.
Who we're looking for
Sailors who can keep sailing this winter.
- Sailing waters where you can sail through the winter
- A sailboat under 32 feet
- Able to sail about once a week through March 2027
- Comfortable installing the system yourself
- A working knowledge of sail trim
- Willing to share feedback, testing data, and occasional photos or videos
Hardware compatibility
SailGauge mounts are available for Harken 27 mm CB mainsail travelers and genoa cars. Boats with this hardware will receive priority consideration.
Other hardware may be considered, depending on mounting compatibility and installation requirements.

What participation involves
A real-world evaluation, not a rigid test schedule.
Most outings should simply be normal sailing. The program runs for at least 90 days and 10 outings.
What SailGauge provides
- A preproduction SG1000 (1,000 lb) system on loan at no charge
- Installation and setup instructions
- Software updates during the program
- Technical support for troubleshooting
What we ask of you
- Sign an experimental use contract before receiving the equipment
- Install the equipment on your boat
- Sail regularly — at least 10 outings over 90 days — and share recorded testing data
- Report what works and what needs improvement
- Provide occasional photos or short videos
- Respond to check-ins and occasional focused test requests
Preproduction software and equipment may have limitations or issues.

Participants who complete the program qualify for a discount on a new production SailGauge system. There is no obligation to purchase.
The preproduction equipment remains SailGauge LLC property and is returned at the end of the program for engineering review.
